Introduction to Firearms

Where do you start? What do you need to know to be safe? Caswells’ Introduction to Firearms course is a 3-hour course designed for those individuals with little to no handgun experience.

 

Following the classroom instruction, students will have the opportunity to practice the skills learned in class with live fire exercises. If you are a beginner with little to no experience, this is the class for you.

 

This course covers:

  • Handgun safety

  • Different types of handguns

  • Types of ammunition

  • Safe methods for loading and unloading

  • Live fire exercises

 

Equipment and supplies required:

 

Class requires eye and ear protection and at least 50 rounds of ammunition for the firearm you will use. Firearms may be rented at no cost, however you will need to purchase Caswell's range ammunition for use during the class.

Fundamental Shooting Skills

The next step from taking the P100 class.

 

This course is designed around learning the fundamental skills behind shooting pistols both safely and accurately and is the second-level class in the Caswells Pistol Curriculum.

 

The Fundamental Shooting Skills course is 3 to 4-hour course with a high instructor-to-student ratio, allowing for close personal hands-on attention while still being in a relaxed classroom environment.

Course instruction includes classroom work, hands on dry-fire practice and live-fire practice.

 

This course covers;

  • Great for new and intermediate shooters

  • Key fundamental features include grip, proper gun operation, stance, sighting and range rules

  • Learn and review gun safety

  • Practice one of the hardest to master skills – trigger control

  • Great review for the seasoned shooters that have not been shooting in a while

  • Perfect preparation for anyone looking at the Concealed Carry course

  • Highly recommended for students interested in moving on to the more advanced shooting course

 

Equipment and supplies required:

 

Class requires eye and ear protection and at least 100 rounds of ammunition for the firearm you will use. Firearm may be rented at no cost and Caswell's range ammunition may be purchased at class time.

Practical Shooting Skills

The Practical Shooting course is the third in the sequence of pistol instruction at Caswells. It builds upon the skills found in the Fundamental Shooting course and on your own personal experience. Our Practical Shooting course focuses on the more complex movements required in defensive shooting. The class is 7 to 8-hours, broken up over 2 days, and includes classroom work, hands on dry-fire practice and live-fire drills.

Class Prerequisites:

Personal shooting experience is required or successful completion of the Caswells Fundamental Shooting Skills course.

 

  • Proper methods to draw from the holster

  • Accuracy with shooting the first shot from the holster

  • Multi-round shots & follow through

  • Appropriate sight picture at various target distances

  • Basic reloading techniques

  • Basic malfunction clearances

 

 

Equipment and supplies required:

 

Class requires eye and ear protection and at least 300 rounds of ammunition for the firearm you will use

Semi-Automatic pistol with three (3) magazines, spare magazine carrier

A quality strong side holster (no shoulder holsters)

Course tuition is $120.00
